Default voice dialing - 11-23-2007, 10:07 PM

I just got a 8830 yesterday and am finding the voice dialing flaky it either works great or horrible. I have looked for some tips on here on getting it to work better but could not could find any.
Does it work better with bluetooth?

I use a Motorola H500, and the voice dialing worked better the more I used it and understood it's idiosyncrasies on particular pronociations.

I bought the Aliph Jawbone earpiece a few days ago, but haven't opened the package yet.

I use the jawbone for voice dialing, works fine.

My ONLY complaint with the jawbone is that in very loud environments (65mph in a diesel truck) its hard to hear. But thats true of ANY headset.

You won't believe how well the Jawbone works...I hated earbuds, until this one came along. I must have owned and used at least 15 different buds before the Jawbone.

Previously owned:
At least 15 different BB's since 1999 -- too many to list...

I'm having the same issue. The voice dialing is horrible. We have the Motorola H500 bluetooth as well. Is there anyway to train this thing? It really is a problem.

I just drove roundtrip Boston -> Albany -> Boston in a loud 2000 diesel H1. I used the jawbone with my 8830 and the voice dialing worked good. I find that it works better for full names. For example, I had my son's first name only in my address book, sometimes it would find him, sometimes not. So I added his last name, and now when I voice dial I give it his full name, as in
"call fred astaire mobile"
and it works flawlessly.

Also, the people that I called reported that the sound quality was good.
