Default PPTP Client for Blackberry - 12-06-2007, 04:41 PM

Hey folks -

Brand new to the Blackberry world, literally, by about a couple hours. So don't flame-broil me too badly if I ask a series of stupid questions.

I've been doing some searching, and am coming up blank on this one. I'm after a PPTP client for the Blackberry (I have a new 8820, FWIW). Before you ask, "Why would you want that?" I'll tell you. My WiFi network at home is locked down, and actually requires authenticating with a PPTP server in order to go anywhere.

The reason I'm using PPTP vs. RADIUS or IPSec is the ease of administration from my perspective. While it's not completely, 100% secure, it's a lot better than most other wireless security solutions that DON'T involve a client-side certificate.

Back to the Blackberry: I knew it had VPN software built in, but it only appears to be IPSec capable, and only with certain well-known devices. This is unfortunate; I was hoping that, like my iPhone, it would at least have a simple PPTP client built in. But I can't find it.

Does anyone know if one exists out there?

Thanks!

jas

Have you managed to find a solution to this? Half of the wifi servers at my university require vpn to access. Iphone works fine with pptp, but I can't get the 8320 to work even though it claims it has pptp capability.
