Default How do I remove my number from my 8830? - 12-06-2007, 07:49 PM

Hi all,

I have an 8830 that I was using on Bell. I ended up switching to rogers and ported my number over. Now I want to sell my 8830.

My question is can I remove my phone number from the device before I sell it? The phone does not work any more, but the number still appers in the phone screen.

I have wipped the device from the device, and I have loaded the newest software (while wipping the device again), but the number remains.

Anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

There should be a code that you can get from Bell for returning the device to the factory defaults.

For example, on Sprint, I would 'dial' ##786 and then put in the MSL code (specific to that device) and it would both wipe the device and put a generic number (starting with 000000) for the phone number.

Try giving Bell a call.... or maybe someone else here knows.

Cool Wiping! - 12-07-2007, 09:32 AM

The correct answer is wiping the phone and then turn it off, there no need to set the phone up if going to sell it.

Wiping the phone doesn't get rid of the number. I agree with juwaack68, give your carrier a call. Although I have sold many of my old phones with the number still in it, and have never had any trouble. As soon as the buyer activates it, the number disappears.
