Default Sprint data plans 8830 - 12-10-2007, 12:20 AM

Is sprint running any specials for christmas? I work for local government so Iwill be able to get 21 percent off my total bill but wondered if they have dropped the 49.99 data plan down a bit to compete with Treos etc..??

May the Blackberry be with you.

Did you check the sprint site? Or search here?

New offer is $30/month for unlimited data/text/navigation. $15 extra if you want to tether.

Just found another thread on this. Now I need to figure out if I take a pic with a pearl and send it to my email is that covered in this plan. What is BIS ? I have my att email accound and a work gmail account I need to check will these be covered?

What are the prices for a new line on the 8830 or the 8130? not sure on the pearl numbering system for sprint. I can't view these phones on the sprint site as I am in a PCS area.

May the Blackberry be with you.

Yes everything using data is covered but tethering to a PC unless you upgrade and add that feature.

BIS= Blackberry Internet Service. Yes with the blackberry plan you get a sprint.blackberry.net email acccount like on ATT, you can add you personal gmail account also.

8830=$199
8130=$199

Ok, did some searching in the local mall and was completely blown away in the difference of data plans for the same 8830 on different carriers

Email & web Tele nav text messaging

Att 29.99 yes 10.00 10.00+

Sprint 29.99 Yes Yes Yes

Verizon Yes 15.00 10.00+

It looks like Sprint really does have a good thing going with there plans. I am wondering how does the IM work? I have some friends with Treos that use IM messaging how can I send them text messages? Is that included? If I install Verichat can I talk with them? Any good tips and trick websites for BB?

Most boss sends me work requests by word doc can the bb view this?

thanks guys

May the Blackberry be with you.

yeah you can view those docs!

i just got my 8830 through sprint and I am in love!! :D Full Data plan with some really fast download speeds when I'm in the 1XEV data area!! You won't go wrong. The IM messaging can be done with other BB users but you would probably have to download AIM or something like that depending on what IM system your Palm buddies have.

Did I mention I love this phone?

I like the phone also, but I am still on the 39.95 data plan and it does not include text messages. I pin to pin to chat with my wife.

I just checked the Sprint web site and the Blackberry Unlimited Web/Email plan is on sale for 39.99 but it does not include text messaging. Which scared me because that is what I thought I had. I believe the "Unlimited" plan is BES.

Now the Power Vision Blackberry Pack is 30.00 and includes:
-BIS up to 10 (imap/pop3) accounts
-TeleNav Unlimited
-Unlimited web browsing
-On Demand
-Unlimited text messages
-Unlimited data access

So if you are BIS you should be on the Power Vision Blackberry Pack
BES you are on the "Unlimited Blackberry Web / Email" plan (NO TEXTING)

My palm buddies have the built in SMS program but if I can get them to load yahoo messenger on there phones then I can do that same and we can have threaded sms. They still have the yahoo messenger free program for the newer bb correct? Or i can get dedicated program for IM , i can't remember the popular one that everybody recommends.

May the Blackberry be with you.

Well, I'm saying if you are BIS then I think your account is not correct. Now this is assuming you are a CDMA customer and not Nextel. It may be something worth contacting them about just to clear any questions you have.

BIS is Blackberry Internet Server (Service)
BES is Blackberry Enterprise Server

The only way you can see it on the web site is if you click on choose a PDASmartphone, (enter your zip) and go through the step as if you were purchasing new phone. Select a blackberry phone then a plan. The next page will be for services. There you will see the 30.00 per month Power Vision Blackberry plan with unlimited web, email, text, etc.

Can't post a link because it requires the user to enter a zip code.

She has had it for years. She is due for an upgrade to a Pearl but would rather get an 8830 for the full qwerty
