Unhappy 8830 and XP help!!!!!! - 12-10-2007, 08:52 PM

I have been trying to get my 8830 to work on my Lenovo T60p for about two days. Device manager keeps listing it as a RIM Composite device. I can not seem to get it to load the proper driver. I have loaded and unloaded the desktop software I got with the phone and downloaded the sprint versions from BB. The bluetooth works fine but the USB and the desktop software are killing me.
What must I do to make it work short of witchcraft!!!

What version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager are you using?
I would try either 4.2.1 or 4.2.2. You might avoid 4.3 as it still seems to have some issues.

Any thoughts on the Windows issue and the RIM composite device problem?

Did you install the software first or just connect your bb via USB? If you didn't install the software first and connected the bb, that is most likely your problem (don't wory, I did the same thing my first time around).

Remove the device from device manager and install the software. Do not connect the bb until the software tells you too.

I connect my VZW 8830 to my Lenovo T60p with no issues, no problems. I was using Desktop Manager 4.2.2 and recently upgraded to 4.3.

What Windows/driver issue are you having?

Does the BB charge from the USB connection?

Does Desktop Manager recognize the BB when connected?

What BIOS version on the T60p?

Have you tried a different USB cable?

I have unloaded BB desktop manager 4.22.14 and then reloaded it. I then went into the config and selected the USB to connect and then connected my BB 8830. Windows says found new hardware....loading and then it says it is loaded and another screen pops up and say new RIM composite device found...it searches but no driver is found and I get the message that your device may!!!!!! not work properly. annnnnnnnd it does not work. I am unable to connect to the desktop software. I have tried a different cable, it does charge the unit. I do not think the cable is at fault. My BIOS version for the T60p is 1.12 , XP sp2 is the OS

Have you also tried resetting, or as I usually say, wiping your 8830 then plugging your in the usb.
