Default Headset Mini-jack Size - 12-13-2007, 09:59 AM

Newbie 8830 question: the headset jack is too small for a normal
sized ipod-like stereo jack..is there an adapter out there to accomodate the normal mini-jack sizes??

The size for the 8830 is actually 2.5mm compared to the standard 3.5mm
I used to use this adapter:
Review: Seido Headphone adapter for 8100/8800/8830 BlackBerry | BerryReview
But others have found the adapter at some Verizon corporate stores that works pretty well

I bought an adaptor for Samsung phones. Although it fit the BB and my headphone, it didn't work. I ordered two SEIDO adaptors, and they work perfectly.

Yup, gotta drop the extra dough for the Seido. Only one that seems to really work with these devices. Although people have had success with the adapters found in the Verizon store.

i've used two different adapters so far. One came with an old phillips portable CD player years ago- thqat didn't work. And one I bought from a shop called MAPLIN in London- that didn't work either. When I say didn't work, it gave out MONO signal, so I hada to go back to using the horrid headphones that came with the 8800.

Ditto on the Seidio adapter. Bought two, one for my 8830 and one for my wife's 8820. Both work fine. I use mine with a noise cancelling set of headphones, she uses hers with earbuds.

This is the adapter that I use ... Works perfectly with the 8830 .. Will even let you answer calls while you have your headphones on. I can tell you it's a weird sensation talking on the phone while wearing my Bose over the ear headphones. "Calls sound great!"

I used a company called Expansys and purchased these

Buy a RIM® BlackBerry 8100/8800 Stereo Headset (Black), #HDW-13019-001 - eXpansys UK

If you are in the UK the depot where the headphones are despatched from is in Trafford Park, Manchester. If you wish just search the expansys site for blackberry earphones.

They work brilliantly by the way.

Apologies the above should be a link but didn't work. Go to the expansys website and search for the item
