Had the 8800 for 4 months now. I have tried to reboot it by pulling out the battery whilst on but no luck.

Experiencing these problems:

When choosing a person from address book to sms. The screen just hangs/freezes.

When I eventually get into the sms page and start to type a message
a menu keeps popping up with "send", "draft" and "full menu"options on it. Then it automoatically sends the message out incomplete.

Generally some of the keys are not correcponding with the action e.g. when I hold down the ALT key to do a full stop etc it does not work.

Please help as this problem is driving me mad!!!!!!

Sounds like it's time to use Desktop Manager to re-install the OS. It will prompt you to do a backup before proceeding, which you should do. The entire process should take an hour or so including the restoration of your backed up data.

How is your memory? Are you getting close to max? BB are known to act a little "strange" once they run out of memory.

I agree with the above responses.
Additionally, with your odd key action--you might have some keyboard moisture problem/liquid damage.
I have never heard of "hold down the ALT key to do a full stop", what does tgat mean?

I just want to know what the ALT key stops?

If there is liquid damage (which your last sympton indicates) reloading the OS won't do anything, but is a good place to start.

obviously it stops nothing. The OP was just stressing out I am sure and not really thinking much about what exactly was being written.

It is a hard thing when your BB starts weirding out, and add that to all the other holiday stresses one might feel at this time of year and alluvasudden nothing makes sense anymore.

Breathe a bit, then logically try the backup and reloading of the OS from your DM. Maybe even do that tomorrow after you have time to rest a bit.
