How do I remove the "data connection refused" message at the top of my phone where it should say "Orange" (my telecom)? I don't have a bb data plan, so I guess that's why it says it, but I can get online, so clearly the data connection is fine. I'm writing this message on my phone right now!

Typically that shows when no BB data plan is on acct.

You may have data but be cautious you could end up paying for it

I don't think there is a way to remove that when you don't have a BlackBerry data plan.

That's pretty dense, especially since its incorrect! I like this phone but I'm getting pretty irritated that most stuff that bugs me has no workaround.

And yes I know it costs to use internet on my phone and yes I do pay for it :P

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan or a regular/GPRS data plan?

that is basically saying your data connection to RIM is refused. Only way to get rid of it is to either A) create your own theme and shrink the banner enough that you cannot view that area of it, or B) get a BB data plan.

Well, gee. I don't understand why you're asking us since you clearly know better than we do...

That message is referring to your connection to RIM's network as someone has already mentioned. You might want to try using it as it's intended to be used (i.e with a BB data plan) first.

what I typically do is go to the mobile networks under options..change your settings from automatic to home..save it then go back and change it back to automatic and save it..typically fixes mine...least it did my previous blackberry..my new pearl (got it yesterday) hates me..coming up with some data connection error and won't let me log on yahoo..anyone that can help would be so greatly appreciated!

Default Solved! - 05-22-2008, 11:27 AM

I installed the 4.2.1.115 OS today and it fixed this error It no longer says "data connection refused"! I still have just a generic data plan, no RIM plan.

Data Connection Refused?
From BlackBerryFAQ

What is 'data connection refused'?'

* If you do not have a BlackBerry Data Plan then you will see this message on the main screen!

* If you have a data plan and are seeing this message then you will need to call your service provider and have them check the provisioning on the account.

* If you do not have a data plan and want to hide this message from showing up then go to:

Options >> Mobile Network and turn Data Services to OFF.

Wow, way to not even read my post. 2 things:
1) I stated that I DO have data access, and turning that off would prevent me from getting online.
2) The problem was a bug in the blackberry OS, and it was fixed in the version I mentioned when I posted above saying that the problem was solved.

Not sure why you're offering off-topic solutions to an already solved issue, but thanks for your concern.

Looks like this guy did the same thing here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...n-refused.html

Same exact post twice....and he only has 2 posts...strange.
