Default Is there a way to turn off voice dialing? - 02-01-2008, 08:01 PM

I keep hitting the button and I have to wait for it to clear. I don't even use it. It's a big pain and I'd rather turn it off.

Thanks
Chuck

options > screen/keyboard > left side convenience key

you can change it to just about everything that you have on your device in terms of Apps. To turn it off you could remove the cod as well, check the general blackberry discussion thread optimizing your blackberry, for more info

Yes voice dialing can sometimes be a pain in the neck, but I have like 900 contacts and voice dialing is just easier for me than looking up the contact. I just have to say it properly for the phone to understand the name. I found that when I run the vacuum or the steam cleaner and hit the voice dial button, the noise from the vacuum and steam cleaner causes the phone to lookup some of my spanish friends...dont know why...just found it interesting

Question: Is there a way to use voice dialing with my address book entries?

Can I save a voice pronounciation for my address book so i can just say "call office" or something?

Yes, voice dialing works with your address book. However, you have to say it how it's listed in your address book. You'd need an entry for "Office."

Same problem here, even some of the most basic names it doesn't recognize when I say it I guess my South African accent must be too much for it

Install British Language support. Also, you can go to options >Voice Dialing and then hit menu and select "adapt digits." That will customize it more to your voice.

The Voice dialing was a royal pain. It would come on and dial names in my contact list just by listening to itself give the commands. Wierd...

Thanks for the info on how to turn it off.
