Is there a difference between what happens when you slip the 8830 into its holster-case and the magnet triggers an "off" or standby state and removing from holster turns it back on

If I leave the 8830 on my desk and it just "turns off" due to a timeout where I then need to Press a key to revive it?

Reason I ask (besides being curious if the two states are different or VERY different) is that I have Noreve case but the way the flap is designed is that the standby magnet flap slips up when I place it my pocket (or move the flap) and it comes out of standby ONLY to eventually timeout anyway but then needs a keypress to revive it.

You could always hold the mute button on the device for a second to put it in standby mode. The only way to bring it out would be to press the mute key again.

The difference is when the device times out, any key will "wake up" the device. This could cause unwanted "pocket dialing".

Yup. The holster's magnet deactivates the keyboard and activates the holster profile.

Thank you both as that information is very helpful - I just found out that MUTE and MAGNET both do the same thing ultimately. Making them both equally "useless" in terms of this Noreve case. That is once the "standby magnet" flap is closed, once that flap slips, the 8830 turns back on (in my pocket) and then eventually TIMES-OUT and then any keypress turns it on and it may do whatever accidently is invoked at that point.

I guess it is either a NEW case or pressing the ALT-ENTER key combination to lock the keyboard so that it is not accidently tuned to respond to errant (pocket) key presses. Or I think that I read there is a setting for a time-out keyboard lock. But both those remedies require a special keypress combo to allow its use.
