Syncing Problem - Desktop Manager Closes -

Hi,
I've been syncing my BB 8830 since I got it without any problems. Then it stopped syncing. I received the following error:
"BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". After sending the error report, the BB desktop manager shuts down itself, but the device manage stays open in the system tray. The BB display shows the 'connected to dektop', until I physically disconnect it.
I went through a 4-hour on and off session with Verizon technical support and BB technically support to end up fixing it by reinstalling the software.
It worked for another month since that ordeal, and low and behold, it stopped syncing again. It seems to burp on the calendar. There has got to be a better way than having to reinstall the desktop software and reconfiguring the sync every month or so.
I found an old thread with the same problem, but none of those fixes listed helped me.
Does anyone have any ideas or know of any helpful links? The technical document on BB's website contains steps that are incorrect.
TIA,
Jackoholic

This is hard because we are crossing into computer issues rather than BB's and it's hard to support a desktop without seeing it. Things to check for...
Any recent Microsoft updates installed on your desktop? Any other recent software installed. My advice would be to uninstall and reinstall the software, especially if you have applied MS Hot Fixes.
I think what aiharkness was asking was does it crash when you launch the Desktop Manager or only DURING the sync process.
Sorry, my bad. It crashes during the sync process. It seems to crash at the same point every time - during the sync of the calendar. I'm checking the update link he provided now. Thanks
Trying the fix suggested by aiharkness -

I can't try this until tomorrow when I'm back at the office. I will post my findings. This is definately a different fix than the last one I tried so it's worth a chance. Thank you very much aiharkness!
Go it...don't ask for an explanation...just follow the instructions and it will work again (mine does this sometimes too). Connect to the PC and launch the DM. If you have autosynch on Cancel it BEFORE it gets to the crash point. Go into Backup/Restore then Advanced and then select the calendar database on the HandHeld (Right side) make sure it's the handheld. Then click clear calendar (this will delete of the BB). Then exit and hit synch now and it will send the whole calendar again.
Just remember a couple of things: (a) hard reset fixes most problems; (b) if it doesn't, search BBF, BBFaq and blackberry.com and you'll nearly always find the answer, but always find at least a lead.
