Angry I have tried EVERYTHING, and I still can't get rid of it! - 02-22-2008, 06:00 PM

I have tried everything; I have read all of the threads on how to get rid of the Voicemail indication symbol on the screen, and it still won't go away!

I have tried soft resest, hard reset...calling my voicemail...leaving a message and then deleting it...with no success. I have tried everything and I still can't get rid of the symbol from my screen. I have even taken my phone to the Alltel store and had no success. They had a Blackberry specialist there and he couldn't even get the symbol off the screen.

HELP...does anyone know how to remove it?

Wow! I know you took it to the store. But have your tried calling customer service and ask them to try to reset your Voice Mail? If not, I can' think of anything else but a wipe and re-load. I would hate to have you go through that. Try calling and give it a day before getting drastic.

E-

I know you said that you tried everything but I don't know which techniques you have tried. Did you try switching themes? Try pulling the battery and leaving it out, call from another phone and leave yet another message, Re-insert your battery and check and delete your voicemail.

P.S. Welcome to the forums!!!

Some carriers have a symbol or a number you need to push when ending the call for a voicemail, did you try that.

When I took my phone to the store. Their "Blackberry specialist"...spoke with customer service and they reset my voicemail, but the symbol was still appearing on the screen. I've tried everything...I don't know about a wipe and reload. Who would do that...and where would I get that done?

Just be sure to backup FIRST and be patient.

Good Luck!

P.S. I still say give it a day and see if somehow it clears.

Yes, that is very drastic for such a small issue (I know it doesn't seem small, but in the big scheme of things...).

Wait, be patient, and try yet another cycle through calling and leaving a voice mail and battery pulls.

I tried to upgrade my software as well...and the symbol is still there. I called customer service again this evening to see if another reset to my voicemail would work, and it still appears even after the 2nd reset. I guess I'll have to wait it out...It's not going away and I've been patient for about 2 monthes.

I had this problem with another phone before and they had to wipe out my account completely and then recreate it to fix the issue. Big fix for a little problem.

welcome to the forums. did you leave yourself a voicemail, wait a while then go in and delete it after the notification goes on the screen for the new voicemail? or did you go in immediately and delete it?

Have your tried changing the theme, then a battery pull, and then changing the theme back?

When you say you "tried" to upgrade the software, did you? I have had this happen twice and both times the software reload worked.

Only other suggestion is to back up your data and do a device wipe.

Since I got the new version (last patch.. about a month or two ago) I have not had this issue. I went through the same annoying things the OP had. I tried changing themes.. and doing just about everything. The only thing that would take it away for the time being was to reload. It would show back up eventually on the next voicemail :(

My girlfriends new curve had the same prople. After reading and trying all that was suggested by the forum, nothing worked.
So I called the Robbers (rogers) Tech support. The issue seems to be the SIM card. Hers was to old for the New BB Curve.
Maybe this will help!!

Wow, that is interesting -- I will have to take note of that if I encounter this on a new BB or OS. I am not sure of the age of my SIM but I have had only one since my first GSM Rogers phone (not that it helps, but the timeline is that it's the phone I got after my Moto StarTac).

It still says Rogers AT&T on it; although it's not as vintage as one saying Cantel AT&T, hehe.

I can't see why the age would matter either, it worked fine on the Razor. But when I put the SIM card in the icon was not there....problem solved. I was on the phone with the tech for 2 hours, he tried everything...he even called RIM because they couldn't believe the icon would not go away.
Very happy with the tech support, not so happy with the $$$$ of Data plans!!
