Default Peculiar situation - 02-22-2008, 10:09 PM

Okay folks

I recently upgraded my 8800 OS to the latest and have just realized that Jivetalk will not function, error states that you are trying to connect to a place outside your firewall and inside and this isnot allowed. There ia No IT Policy on the device yet some reason the firewall is now enabled and It wont allow meto disable it.

I had no such problems prior to the OS update

I removed and reloaded JT no luck

I am about to revert back to previous OS but before I do that wanna see if anyone has encountered such problem or has another idea before i embark

What does the blackberry show in the policy field in security options? I'm thinking back to those threads a while ago where some seemed to get a policy or what acted like a policy when they installed some google app. Can't remember those details, just the mysterious policy-type behavior.

sounds like a policy got added to the device via Desktop Manager. Do the remove IT policy procedure and it will allow the split pipe connection.

Did you remove a policy using that particular computer? Or connect it to any other computers?

The policy can reside on the computer and when you cconnect a BB will be automatically loaded to the BB. That's how the "Remove IT policy" procedure works. It actually loads a blank, unrestricted policy to the device and it won't show up in the Security Options.

So, if you do connect a blackberry with a policy, or use a computer to remove a policy, the thing to do afterward is find the policy file on the computer and delete it?

Simply connecting a BB with a policy shouldn't add it. However, if you used the remove it policy procedure, you'll want to remove the policy from the pc afterward.
