Smile Hotmail Cannot be checked with 8830? - 02-23-2008, 11:05 AM

I am new to the blackberry world. Just got an 8830 so I could check my hotmail on the road. When I activated the phone sprint told me I could not use hotmail. It could only be check through the browser and even that was not guaranteed to work. Anyway to get around this? She said if I paid for hotmail it would work. Does this apply to all blackberry models or just the 8830?

Thanks for the input

well the browser should work with no issues, i can log into mine without any problems on any of my devices. hotmail doesnt allow forwarding/pop access for some accounts. if you have had your account with them for 5 years i think, you can use it on the bb. it applies to hotmail, not blackberry specifically. welcome to the forums

Some hotmail accounts are grandfathered by Microsoft and will work as a POP3. Others, mainly the newer ones, require you to upgrade tot he Premier version before you can get it on a handheld.
