Unhappy BB Dimension Today not Showing any Appointments - 02-25-2008, 09:36 AM

Earlier this year I had removed BB Messenger from my Telus 8830, and in an attempt to get it back, I simply re-installed the same version of Telus's Blacberry OS I had installed. I did get BB Messenger back but in the process I lost the ability of BB Dimension Today theme to show any appointments...something I had no problems with before I re-installed the OS.

Anyone have any idea why all of a sudden my theme would not work as it did just moments before? I've tried re-setting, pulling the battery, etc., but all to no avail. I don't know what to do next.

Appreciate any help I can get.

Wirelessly posted (8320 Curve: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Backup everything but service books. Wipe device. Restore data. Turn on radio. Restore books. It worked on my curve

This is a pita - it seems like any time you update the firmware, the today themes stop working properly. Hopefully RIM will take care of this on the next update so that I don't have to go through this process again.

I've just been through that process...a number of times now, and I still cannot get the Today Themes to work properly. You know, my 8830, which up until recently I loved using, is becoming a nuisance now, what with the recent RIM outages, lost emails, quirky 3rd party apps, etc., and now this problem with the Today Themes.

What really ticked me off was that I was waiting for DataViz to come out with DTG for the BB, and when then finally did, it was only for BES and not BIS. That will just about tip the scales for me unfortunately.

I had the same thing happen to me twice. The first time I did this:

Open up Desktop Manager and then Select Backup/Restore option. Choose the advanced tab and find your calendar on the right hand side of the screen in the device databases menu. Once you do that Clear it by selecting the clear option on the bottom. Once all of that is done resync your BlackBerry.
This worked for me the first time.

A few weeks later I performed an OS update and my Today themes stopped displaying the events so I did the above but that didn't work, I then did some searching and found out that there was some sort of issue and that I should delete all my CICAL service books and keep the CMIME ones. Once I deleted all the CICAL service books my BlackBerry showed the calendar entries again when I used a Today theme.

Thanks very much Nitty ...the first option did the trick for me this time, but I will print off your response and save it in case this happens again. What a PITA if you don't have the resolve to fix the problem.

That's what I did to fix mine. But I added more steps because the curve that I had did not have cical books for some reason. Not sure why. But I'm glad u got it all fixed. =)
