So I hear that T-Mo is putting out an 8820 with wifi/gps. I'm probably going to end up buying it but I have a few questions for those of you using the 8820 now.

I am interested to find out how your media player works. Is it the same as the 8800, where the first song would have to play in order to start the shuffle process? Or is it more like the 8320, where when you open the media player you have the shuffle feature in the opening list before any music plays?

Also, is there a spell checker or will I have to reload lexspell?

The media player is really simple and very nice; you can read music files internally or externally (stored on SD card). I'm not sure if it is like that of 8800 because I never owned a 8800. There may also be 3rd party media players built for the 8820.

There is a built in spell-checker.

FWIW, it works like this. When you open media player, you have the options to display All Songs, Artists, Albums, Genres, Playlists, and Shuffle Songs. If you click Shuffle Songs, it will start playing a random song and keep mixing it up.

I love the media player, but wish that it (more effectively) used some sort of internal database. It takes about four seconds to go from album to list of songs in the album. I believe there there is a database created, as when you do a mass update, you can watch the new songs trickle into the artist, album, and genre listings. Maybe the folks at Plazmic can brush it up for us for 4.3?

the 8820 is really nice i have one [at&t unlocked to t-mobile with unlock vendor themes so there is no use purchasing a t-mobile 8820 ] and i love it

before then i had a curve but i sold it the rubber stuff was peeling and dust under the screen i dont know if any1 else had this problem but it was getting on my nerves

Yes, the 8820 on T-Mobile will be able to take advantage of the UMA services.

It's not likely that you'll be able to EVER get UMA on an AT&T device. Other unlocked 8320's from other carriers don't get UMA on TMobile. The device has to be TMobile branded and be using a TMobile sim in order to get UMA. So, there IS a reason to get a TMobile 8820 when they come out.
