Default No call forwarding option with Sprint 8830? - 03-20-2008, 02:06 PM

I just received a Sprint 8830 that is on my companies BES. It replaced my AT&T Pearl, and I was expecting to see the same basic features.

Unfortunately, it seems that the Sprint 8830 does not have any call forwarding feature other than "Forward all calls". What I wanted was "forward when not answered", and "forward when busy".

It turns out that those options are not available on the Sprint unit, which otherwise appears to be identical to the AT&T version. Very disapointing.

I did learn that Sprint can set that up from their central office, but I'd have to call them to activate and deactivate, and change the forwarding number.

Do any other sprint users have the same problem?

call tech support and ask for call forward no answer....then use the *73(number you want to forward to) and *74 to turn off.....It might take a couple of reps before u get one that knows what it is..I have this setup on my 8130, 8830 and 8703e and use SimulScribe

I had to call Sprint tech support and they turned on "call forward....no answer". I too am trying out SimulScribe. Does anyone know if Sprint will charge extra for this "call forward....no answer" feature?

I guess that's a work around, but the forward number would always be the same, unless I call Sprint every time I want to change it

You can ue *73(the number you want to foward to) and *74 to turn it off. You'll have to call Sprint to use your sprint voicemail but the forward number u can change (you can also change the number under the options menu it the phone app)

Aren't you charged $0.20 per call that is forwarded? I have a Sprin 8830 with call forward no answer to Simulscribe...and it's $0.20 on my bill per call that's forwarded...

I just spoke with a rep at Sprint. You are not charged $0.20 per call - it is $0.20 per MINUTE. So if you forward from your blackberry to your desk phone and you answer the call at your desk phone, that call is costing you $0.20 per minute.

Also, it is *72+number forwarded to for an automatic forward, *73... for a forward if busy, and *74... for a forward no answer (after 30 sec). To cancel the forward, it is *720, *730, and *740 respectively. But you have to be signed up with Sprint for call forwarding for it to work.

This is because GSM (att and tmobile) and CDMA (verizon and sprint) handle calls much differently. CDMA simply does not offer the same feature set as GSM hence the missing features on your blackberry.
