Hi,
I am German and I want to have the 8820 without any SIM-Lock or Branding (neither hardware nor software ones) cheapest possible. The point is that this device has not yet released in Germany and, moreover, in Germany we pay the double price for technical stuff Americans and Koreans pay. I also need some vendor that ships the device to Germany and gives guarantee.

I would be thankful for any advice, thanks in advance.

You very likely won't find a device that has no branding unless you happen across a pre-release device. So anything you buy will have the carrier brand as well as the flash startup logo. You will not change that.
You will be best finding a used BlackBerry on our Buy Sell site here and having it shipped. Any third party seller will not have a warranty either.

What? U mean nobody but your Buy Sell site gives warranty? Do not know what is the law around the world, but in Germany 2 years warranty is a must. So when I buy a blackberry and, for example, it switches off two weeks after the deal and does not switch on again I do not get any warranty??

If you buy a piece of electronics on eBay, there may be no warranty, much less two years.

I doubt that anybody on the Buy Sell site will offer a two year warranty. You appear to be inferring that they might -- and I doubt that they would.

I wouldn't sell my used 8820 to a complete stranger in Germany, or in Baton Rouge, with a 2 year warranty. Who knows what you would do with it? It is used, not new. Note that my post above said "third party".

And there is no way for Germany to enforce their laws on me, especally if I sell to you "as is" and you accept those terms.

I do not want you to sell your blackberry. I want a new one from some kind of professional vendor that offers support.

You may wish to look for blackberry with Germal keyboard layout (qwertz) instead of American qwerty.
That will very much limit you to German wireless carriers.

I can also tell that eplus is selling 8120 already. Just wait few more months and you may see German carriers selling 8820 and 8320.

Your best bet is to buy blackberry in Germany from German wireless carrier. Money you think you will save by getting blackberry elsewhere may not compensate for grief and inconveniences of not having your local vendor supporting your device.

Thanks for your advice, Berry One, but I DO NOT want the German keyboard layout. I am familiar with having all computer programs in English and typing on a keyboard with U.S. layout since I write everything in ASCII.
Moreover after my contract will have ended I am looking forward to leaving the German ePlus network due to bad connectivity.
And the point is I ONLY WANT the 8820 since this is the only one that has WLAN integrated.

specific demands? I want a blackberry with US keyboard layout (what is most common) and at least 2 years warranty. Please excuse that I am that fastidious.

If you DEMAND a two year warranty then you will have to buy one in YOUR country that forces the MFG to give a two year warranty. Do not wonder why it cost more as this will be part of the reason!

If you buy here or in the USA, you will NOT get a two year warranty! Likely you will get no warranty at all. This what you will get.

Well, you also said that you wanted one that was completely unlocked and unbranded.

There are interesting differences between USA and Europe you just stumbled upon.

In USA, the warranty hardly ever exceeds one year. It might also include interesting conditions making you practically excluded from using it. For example, have you calculated how much shipping of defective device overseas will cost you if you have to pay it by yourself?

In USA, cell phones are usually locked to carriers. Wireless carriers are not obligated to sell unlocked devices. There are businesses that could unlock device for you but it will cost you extra and it is on your own risk. Don't be surprised if cell phone vendor decides that unlocking device voids your warranty.

Finally, are you sure you are going to save money on buying device from the USA?
For example, 8820 from AT&T goes for $500 without contract.

Add all this together and you may find that you may have to pay rather large sum of Euros for a honest deal. You might get much more cheaper offer but you know what they say about the offer that is too good to be true.

Your best bet is to buy local.

Sure seems that while you are accustomed to getting a two year warranty, you also do not want to pay the price for it. You may be envious of the prices we pay in the US and Japan, but a large part of the reason for the German higher prices could very well be the two year warranty you so highly desire and expect.

Carriers do not give away anything for nothing and warranty replacements cost carriers big bucks. As others have pointed out here in the US a one year warranty is usually the max. When you get a one year warranty you usually are not going to find the cheapest price.

It is really the old "pay me now or pay me later, but you will pay". Companies that are in business are there to make money. They are not going to become a not-for-profit enterprise simply because another country has strict warranty rules in place.

It is really simple economics. If they have to cover a warranty for twice what they do elsewhere the item will be priced accordingly. Users who do not make use of the warranty overpay and those who seek warranty replacements or repair for any little blip will underpay. It all balances out.

Well, you guys are largely right. The only point I do not accept to is that most of you want me to believe that I will not save money if I buy a device from US or Korea or wherever. I already figured out the cost differences between a local and an unlocal one. An average electronic device is in Germany about 40% more expensive than the same one in for example America and the shipping fee from and to the US is much less than the price differential of the devices (sorry for bad expression).
Okay, thanks for the info chadlin but I think I will wait for the next generation of blackberries in order to get the 8820 cheaper.

you wont get a warranty like that on an unlocked device. 1 year is the manufacturer limited warranty, you can generally buy insurance past that.

I had a similar idea. I live in Latvia, where no one sells 8820 (with or wihout conrtract) jet. I decided to purchase one from EBAY.CO.UK. It was brand new, with all set. But I had to unlock it (Orange). All together was 200 GBP (phone+shipping+unlock+2GB SD card). Now I am a happy user for about 2 months.
