Default How to send a message to a pager? - 03-24-2008, 04:52 PM

Ok, so at my new job they gave us pagers and I was testing it out when calling the pager it says "enter number or message" and so when I try to type a message it doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to type a message with the BB to send to a pager?

Thanks

If it is an alpha/numeric pager, I think you can, of course, enter a number but if you wish to send a message, you need to use a computer logged onto a website paid for by the users of the pagers. I am not sure that can be done via your Blackberry.

Wirelessly posted

I think to send a text message the reciever would need a text-capable pager.

I have no signature...!

The "message" part of the greeting could refer to a voice message. Some pager services notify users that a voice message is available, and the recipient calls calls into the service provider with a PIN to retrieve the message -- other services have a person (or voice recognition software) transcribe the voice message to text which is forwarded directly to the pager. As far a sending text directly to a pager, there is often an e-mail address associated with a pager for short messages (e.g., the default address for Skytel pagers was {10-digit_pager_number}@skytel.com).
