you can however create a folder (should be able to on the 8300), then move those icons in, and should be able to hide the folder

Ahhh, never know that. I can now rid myself of couple of pesky icons. Thanks!! Just when you think you don't know anything....you find out you know less.

No problem is so formidable that you can't just walk away from it

I never keep more than one page of icons on my desktop. Hate to page down! Do not even use all or them!

I generally have only the icons that I use regularly visible. Some Aps I totally remove, as I know I'll never use them (Voice Notes for one). Some I hide the icons, because I find the keyboard shortcuts to be more efficient (I have keyboard lock and the camera as my quick keys). Some I folder because I use them once in a while, but not frequently (maps).

Greg's suggestion is the best. In addition to avoiding the need to scroll, you can put the apps you use most on each corner so that you can move to and launch the app without looking at the device. For example, I've got BBWeather upper left, power upper right, lock lower left, and a folder with other stuff lower right. Works like a charm...

Yep, I believe so. But I'm with you, I haven't had the launch OS on a Berry in a long time...
