Default New Password Problems - 03-27-2008, 01:42 PM

Hi all. I have an 8830 that was on BES and is now on BIS. I changed the IT setitngs, but I have a problem I never had when it was on BES. I am required to change my password every 4 days. Can I fix this?

That sounds like something that can only happen when you are on a BES. Do you mind me asking why the change was made? I ask, because you may have an IT policy on the berry, that can be removed. But if your still with the company they may not like that to much.

When I was on BES, I never had to change my password. I changed because I left the company, but I owned the Blackberry. I did fully wipe the IT Policy.

You downloaded the policy.bin file and modded your registry to wipe the old policy?

Ok, just making sure. Because there is absolutely no setting to force you to change the password in the standard blackberry menus. The only way to do that normally is through IT policy. Have you reloaded the OS? Its usually a last option, but in this case I cant think of anything else.

Wirelessly posted (blackjack IV)

If he did an os reinstall with out removing the string for policy.bin file then the old IT policy was likely put back into place

Thats why i asked if he removed it. If it reloaded any policy after the reinstall, it would have been the blank one.
