Default Problems with my VZW 8830 - 03-28-2008, 09:15 AM

I just noticed my BB doing this yesterday, on the main screen the time glass repeatedly shows up and spins and never stops. It makes everything very slow and it is really starting to annoy me. I have already removed the battery and updated the software and it is still doing it.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I have Sprint 8830, same thing, they told me too free up some memory by deleting emails and extra things not needed anymore. I moved them to my computer and it helps for a couple of days and then I have to do the same thing over...sucks.

I have the same amount of memory on my phone as I always have. I think if it keeps doing it, I will go to VZW and try and get them to fix it.

This is exactly the same thing mine is doing.

I have found that it has more to do with how many apps you have open at the same time if you have plenty of memory available. I try not to leave too many apps open, and I haven't had a problem with the hour glass spinning in a long time.

FYI everyone who has this problem, back up your device and do a hard reset. Seems to have worked for me!

Don't think so. The sd card only stores custom ringers, music, photos and video. The apps and email take up the device memory.

The issue is internal memory where the card is external. The new Curve is supposed to have 96MB of internal memory which will definitely slow down the effects of the leak.

My 8310 did the same thing and I had to delete and re-add my push mail, this was a major problem for me last week when many of us were having problems with Yahoo mail.

I tend to have the problem when I spend too much time on the opera mini. The battery pull does resolve it.

Same here. Or when the Blackberry browser tries to run a website full of scripts and gets stuck.

i honestly left vz data over this, vz 8830 woudnt load att.com would give me a hourglass, then i tried recently verizonwireless.com and got the same results, updated to latest os, same results, i was you know what, lets try a att phone, went to the store, both pages loaded got a curve.

i have a bad feeling vz is starting to quietly filter or firewall some sites. which cause the web browser problem, i didnt even bother to open a ticket, it never loaded att.com from day 1 till when i got my curve.

maybe others vz'ers want to try att.com and see what happends. dunno i really think they filter their data connection.

Okay, the phones are just like a normal computer sometimes they are used a lot and you have to reset them in order to do this hold down the alt key on the left and the shift key on the right and the delete button and this will do the trick for quite sometime.

Just got to att.com with no problems. Loaded in about 1 second. In fact, I can get to verizonwireless.com now too. I unchecked all of the boxes in the browser options, so I think maybe the browser on a bb has problems processing certain sites with java, flash, whatever. I don't know the technical details why some sites work and others don't, but it seems I don't have any issues now that I've unchecked those boxes. Also, I seriously doubt Verizon is filtering.

I also can load both pages successfully on VZW, no issues or "secret filtering" here. I also tried it right after a battery pull with no apps running (except the standard ones).

I do think its their problem. I do not know if other 8830 carriers are having the same issue.
