I have been having problems with my 8830 connecting to the network, tech support has me re provision which does not work, error 1012. Then they have me take the battery out(soft reset) then they have me hard reset and it does not delete qnything. After reboot from hard reset all my programs are still there and I cannot connect to the network, so in short is my phone dead?

takeing out a battery is not a hard reset. trying going into settings and then scroll down to security options and then to general setting click on the button on the right the menu should pop up and select wipe handheld . that might work better .

Meaning connecting to a wireless network or activating it? Have you contacted service provider?

MERK, sorry if I was confusing, they first made me do a soft reset by taking battery out, then I did a hard reset by going to options and wiping handheld, only problem it does not wipe anything.

ok well i just did a quick google on that code and it seems alot people are getting that error due to tech support setting up your account or the provider is haveing netwotk issues. i would call sprint again and have someone clear your account and set up blackberry on the account again. if the blackberry screen is dead thats when you say "is this thing shot" lol i hope it works out for u

+1 on removing / readding the data plan. I have to do this often with Sprint for the users I support.
