Default Micro sd card recommendations? - 03-28-2008, 07:44 PM

What size do you think I should get. On Amazon they have 4GB for about 20 bucks shipped. I plan to use my phone as an mp3 player and possibly want to add videos to it to watch. I'd also like to add my own ringtones to the stick. So what brand/size do you think I should get?

out of the box your device should support 4gb, with upcoming OS updates (accoring to rumors) it will update it past 4gb.

Well i dont have a best buy near me, walmart is pretty much my only choice. They have 1GB for 20 bucks. I hate waiting for things too but I feel if I get 4GB (is that the HIGHEST i can go? Can't go any higher than that right now?) it would be worth it since im planning on making this my MP3 player.

4 GB is highest officially although some have gone higher, I've gotten a 4 GB from PNY Tech (just preference I've never had any problems with their stuff) and I use mine for an mp3 player when I want or when I work out depends how much stuff you got.

I think 4GB will probably suffice for me. I don't tend to want to have a HUGE variety of music on my MP3 player. Maybe ill order the 4GB stick and see how I like it. It's only 20 bucks shipped (and its a Sandisk) on Amazon.

Fry's Electronics had 2GB cards for $9.99 on their site. But shipping was a bit high at $7. I just went to the store and bought the 2GB for $20.

I'd like a 4GB, but they had no deals or discounts and wanted too much IMHO.

Amazon.com: Sandisk 4GB MicroSDHC Memory Card with SD Adapter (BULK Packaging): Electronics

$23.95 shipped.

Looks like a good deal and it's a Sandisk. Should I get this one?

Here is a Transcend 4 GB micro SDHC for a bit less then 20 bucks, no tax, and I am not sure what the shipping is but it's 3-day shipping.

Newegg.com - Transcend 4GB Micro SDHC Flash Card Model TS4GUSDHC6 - Retail

Also, In the Media Center forums, thier a sticky thread on Micro SD Card deals, you might stumble upon something better in there.

I would go with the A-Data 4GB Turbo. It has has the fastest read and write times. Comes with the SD card adapter. For $26.65 that's $2.70 more then the SanDisk.

Hope this helps.

Well I just read that the card I want is class 2 (that's slow right?) and this A-Data and Transcend are both class 6 (that is considered fast?). So I should probably find one that is class 6 if i want to play videos on my phone.

Thats right class-6 is faster then class-2 for SDHC cards. You can play video's on your phone with either class in won't really matter. The extra speed will come in, loading the video's on the card.

So should I go for the Sandisk, the A-data, the Transcend or something different?

Well I ordered the A-DATA 4GB micro sd on newegg. I read up on some of the sandisk sticks and it seems they lag video because they are a class 2. Thanks everyone!
