Unhappy 8800 Random button errors - 03-29-2008, 07:33 AM

This has been a recurring problem on my 8800, but taking the battery out and putting it back in usually helps.

Some of the buttons sometimes take on the function of other buttons randomly. For example, at the moment, when I click the track ball it is the same as pressing the 'U' and the 'O' buttons at the same time. When I press the zero button it seems to think I am pressing the 'Y' and the 'I' buttons. The back button has taken on the life of 'H'.

Taking the battery out no longer seems to help with this problem. Any suggestions?

Wirelessly posted (blackberry 950)

The errors you are describing typically coincide with some form of exposure to moisture

Moisture, my thought, too.

Agreed and mositure does not mean it had to get wet, some have reported this from it just being in a sweaty pocket.

so very true or even in a very humid area.

main reason I said Moisture vs. water/liquid

Perhaps a change of habit, and let it dry out (assuming it is moisture)? Seems to me worth trying, at least.

I bring my 8800 to work with me & stick it in my pocket I sweat a bit but not much but holy crackerjacks it has a mind of its own if it gets a hint of moisture in it.Sends random txts to people on my contact list calls people connects to the net everything..I can sit there & put it down & watch it as it flips through all the different things untill I take the battery out & let it sit to dry for a hour or so.Very annoying..!!

These things would be useless in a high humidity climate..lol
