Default Trying to use youtube on my 8830 - 04-02-2008, 01:21 PM

Hi all, I'm new to these forums!

As a instrument used purely for business purposes, my 8830 has served me well, but for those times where I'm waiting for a plane, client, etc, I was wondering if there was any way I could use Youtube. I have tried youtube.com, m.youtube.com and tinytube.net, but all I get is a "failed protocol" message, or something along those lines. When I tired to download flash player as suggested, the download appeared to work fine, but nothing happened after that.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I can't see who your carrier is but I haven't any luck on my VZW device. Maybe someone else will have a more positive post than I
I am interested in see if there will be a chance when the new OS comes out.

No, I get the same error message. Another reason to wait for 4.5.

try blueapple.mobi for "streaming" video for any other devices. keep in mind this feature is not supported until 4.3.0 and higher OS's

How do I tell what version my blackberry is, and if it's an older one, can I update it?

I have an 8830 through Verizon, BTW.

Thanks! That works real well. Although, the clips are limited. Any other sources?

Streaming is not possible yet, though you have tinytube.net as a backup (select download low). There is m.youtube.com but as of yet it does not work for my 8800 but I think its because it uses streaming.

I think it involves that protocol, RTSP. Which should be supported when 4.5 is released. I hope.

I've tried a number of video streaming options...and none appear to work. As mentioned, we'll need to wait for 4.5.
