whenever you get a new phone does it want to jump out of your hand and get scratches and dings in it. How does it usually take before you actually drop it? I can only make it about 2 months at the longest.

I have owned three bbs and scratched them up by day 2. Now I have a skin and make sure there is a screen protector in place immediately.

Just got a new BB and installed a new full body skin. You should see my old phone, has a lot of battle scars.

Its part of Murphy's law: The more expensive the object, the more often it is scratched

In all the years I have used Blackberry back to the 6510 Nextel, I have maybe dropped my device 5 times. Never did any damage. The newer devices from the 8700 up today are so easily damaged but I have been lucky and not got any scratches.

My VP damaged the screen on his 8310 the very first day buy jambing it down into the holster with the flap inside too. That stupid little think that says Blackberry on it did a job on that screen! I offered to replace the device but he says it does not bother him in the least! Go figure!

Never dropped a phone since I started shopping in the 300+$ section. Before I had 14 cellphones, all destroyed (thrown out of the window, thrown against a wall [that one was on purpose], fell into the toilet [dont ask] and so on), taking better care now.

Allthough I have to admit my curve got a scratch on the back on day 2 when I didnt check the surface and didnt have the skin for it yet.

I drop mine all the time - usually they are in the holster/sleeve, though.

I dropped my 8830 exactly face down on the kitchen floor once, from about 2 feet up. It didn't like that and gave me an angry red light for a while. Still working though!

I was walking on the carpet at work when my holster broke. The phone (in the holster) hit the carpet and I accidentally kicked it. It flew about 3 feet down the hall. It sustained no damage and has no scratches and is still working. BTW, several people where I work have broken their holsters. I assume this is a well known problem.
