Default Desktop Redirector - 04-22-2008, 02:40 PM

So I have a BB 8830. And I want to be able to sync my work pop3 email. I have a data plan and already have my personal yahoo emails on my BB. Dont have a blackberry email setup because I was never going to use it.

I downloaded blackberry desktop manager and desktop redirector. The desktop manager works but doesnt do what I want. I want to use redirector to send it to my BB. Every time I click on BB redirector it says:

"Could not start the redirector: the connection to your messaging system could not initialized."

Is there something I dont have that I need to run redirector. I prolly missing something that I need or something.

Also is there any 3rd party softwares like redirector?

You can only use Redirector if you have a BES account. I don't know of any 3rd party software that is similar to it.

Several things wrong here:

1 - Desktop Redirector has nothing to do with BES.
2 - Desktop Redirector was designed a long time ago to work with Exchange servers, and not POP3.
3 - Without a BlackBerry Data Plan, it won't work anyway.

Redirector is a bit flakey and you must have your PC on and connected to get your email. Is BIS not a solution? Sounds like the easiest solution to me. It comes with the BB data plan.

according to help you do this:

On the BlackBerry® Internet Service web site, in the left pane, click Email Accounts.
Click the Edit icon beside a POP or IMAP email address.
Click Advanced Settings.
Change the advanced options for your email address.
Click Save.

Well on my BIS there is no Advanced Settings botton.

Akosnitzky, my e-mail is through Outlook Web Access and I am struggling with my BB because it doesnt recognize the folders and filtering I have in place. Will it ever do this?
