Default BIS comes and goes - 04-30-2008, 12:42 PM

I have been using my BB8830 for about 2 weeks now and have been having a problem staying connected to BIS. I loose my connection to the BIS but under manage connections it tells me that I am still connected (I know I have lost my connection because I can't pull up a web page or use other data apps).

If I turn off my radio and turn it back on it tells me that BIS is not connected. If I then turn the phone off and pull the battery I have BIS again until it goes out randomly. When I do this battery pull I can be in the exact same place as when it wasn't working so I don't believe that it is a signal issue. I tried a few times just reregistering but that didn't seem to do it unless I pull the battery.

I am running the following programs aside from those that are standard:

QuoteStream: provides streaming stock quotes
Viigo
occasionally google maps and BBweather

I am using the Sprint unlimited everything plan.

Does anyone have thoughts about how I can fix this or should I just get used to pulling the battery several times a day?

Wirelessly posted

There is no bis connection it sounds like a BB or carrier problem.

it seems like there is a malfunction within your device, i would do an exchange if any troubleshooting doesn't fix this.

When you turn on your phone, does it return the favor? Welcome to BlackBerry!

If you don't pull the battery, how quickly is 1XEV service restored?

I have seen the 1XEV show back up under mobile network, though I feel that it usually just gives me the other one I believe it is 1X. If I don't turn off the radio it never tells me that I am not on 1XEV or that I have lost the BIS I just can't connect to any data. I have never really left it to reconnect after I lose BIS though I will do that next time it happens.

I suspect that you will find that if you have lost BIS and go back to the home screen that you will be 1x. It usually comes back in a minute or 2, but it is nonetheless annoying as all get out.
