I received a bb8800 today from a friend. It will not power up. a battery icon with a slash shows up. From what I figured out it means an incompatable battery. However it is an OEM correct model battery. Does anyone here think a new battery will allow it to power up or is there another problem????

It might just be out of charge.
Plug it in and let it charge for a half hour or so.

I sounds like the battery just needs a good overall charge as indicated above

The "battery with red slash" means it thinks it does not have a battery. The "battery with lightning bolt" means it thinks the battery is too low to use and wants to charge it for awhile before starting up. If you have the latter, leave it for an hour; if you have the former, leaving it to charge will not help - try taking it out and reseating it?
