Default Getting 8820 to work on Rogers UMA - 05-07-2008, 03:01 AM

Hey All,
So Rogers released their UMA network to the public today! The 8820 will eventually be a phone they carry..but not yet..

Because of this, their firmware is not available for download yet. The ATT stock firmware obviously doesn't have built in UMA support. I am installing the Tmobile firmware for now to see what I can do. Is there a way to modify the settings or is UMA one of those things where we'll have to wait for Rogers to release their firmware?

UMA is a service that can be tightly controlled by the carrier. As such, I suspect the software needed to facilitate the service must be released by the carrier.

Actually, its got nothing to do with your OS. You wont get UMA on a non Rogers device. Though I am curious if you can use a Tmobile device, as they both have UMA (seems unlikely but who knows)
