I just picked up the 8830 from VZW. Once I got done loading my apps, I noticed I had about 13 meg less memory available than my 8703e. On my 8703e I had about 27 meg of free memory and on my 8830 I have about 14 meg free memory. I am running the 4.2 OS on my 8830. I have deleted google maps and that only freed up about half a meg. I only have 680 contacts and about half a dozen emails stored on the device and no pics. I have also installed a 1gb microsd card. Does anybody know why the available free memory is drastically less than my 8703e running 4.3????

Because the device shows less memory available as a total.

I'm having trouble understanding your answer. Can you please clarify or maybe give an example?

It's a 64Mb device, yet the File Total in Options >Status says 54MB (or 55MB, I can't remember now as newer OS's don't even display the total anymore.) The point is, it's normal.
