Default GMail app on the 8800 - 07-02-2008, 08:00 PM

Currently my gmail app is not working on my 8800. This started after I had to wipe my device clean and restore. When I try and start gmail, it says the network is unavailable and that I need a working data connection, which I have. When I close out of gmail, it gives me "uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException".

Does anyone know what this means or what to do about it? Thanks

What version OS is on your device?
If it's 4.5, did you install DocsToGo?

I dont know what docstogo is, so I am guessing I dont have it.

Yep, you need Documents To Go installed on your device.
It's part of the 4.5 OS you installed.

Run Application Loader within Desktop Manager on your PC and make sure you check off Documents To Go so it gets installed.

Did you put OS 4.5.0.37 on your device, or did you get it that way?

If you don't have OS 4.5.0.37 on your PC, you'll need to download it.

I put it on my device, but then I was having trouble with it so I uninstalled it and put on DM 4.3. Do you know where the link to the 4.5.0.37 is? Thanks...

Thanks. So I got all the newest DM and OS installed, but when Im running my gmail app it now says that I dont have a working network connection. Ive changed the TCP settings to wap.cingular, thinking that would do it, but no dice. My browser works, so I know the network is working, just dont know why gmail would say that...

This happens on and off to me as well. I don't have any of the additional variables you have. Just a standard phone, recent version of gmail app, and every so often it refuses to connect. Some of the time I confirm other network apps work fine, but gmail does not. Maybe it is actually on their end.
