Post 8800 synch issue - 07-12-2008, 11:35 PM

I came back from vacation and did my mailbox cleanup and now I have 14 unread messages in my mailbox but on my 8800 it is showing 53. I have done the power cycle, softreset, deleting and resending the service book but it is still showing the same 53 unread messages. I know I can re-activate to synch it but I want to know why did it happen and how to solve it.

Thanks

Sounds as though the device became out of sync. from the Server/Mailbox. Check your logs. You will want to concentrate on the your Messaging Agent Log files. They are typically located here C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs\<Date>\<BES_NAME>_MAGT_<Agent#>_<Date> .txt

If you have multiple Exchange Servers, you will need to find out which Agent you are assigned to and that will tell you which MAGT log file you will concentrate on.

You will want to search the file for your UserID which is part of your email <UserID>@<yourdomain>.com (as an example)

Look for errors or things that are not quite right. Post your findings here. We can help.

By the way... have you tried deleting the Desktop [SYNC] service book and resending Service Books from the BES? That will initiate a Slow Sync, which is less invasive than doing a full Enterprise Activate. It will resync everything and update all your databases.

Just a thought.

I'll try that when I get to the office.

Thanks TS.
