Default Help! Major Problem :( - 07-17-2008, 05:27 PM

Well i just recently plugged in my Blackberry to set it up charging and noticed it wont charge at all. So after some research i found it was a dodgy USB connector so i will have to get a new one on the insurance, thats all good.

However, i now have the problem of all my address book details being lost. I havn't loaded them onto the desktop recently so i stand to lose a lot of people's numbers etc. I was wondering if there is any way to transport the numbers saved onto the phones hard drive onto the SIM card or the little removable memory card?

Any help would be greatly apreciated! Thankyou.

Neodr31, that contact info isn't lost, likely not.

1. When the device is charged, you will have it on the BB. Do a backup, and sync the info to Outlook OR at least to a CSV text file.

2. You can move them one by one, phone numbers only, to the SIM card. Laborious at best, and you get no address, emails, etc., detail. Only phone numbers, one per record.

3. Not to the Memory Card, no.

If they can't get connected they can try saving them to SIM as well right?

Sure, they can move them to the SIM... one by one and only phone numbers.

I read the OP question first as a fault USB "cable" and overlooked "connector".

OH, my soul for a quality BIS OTA sync! or Backup!

There are some who claim this out there, I have not tested one that worked great, yet. still hoping and praying.

I hate to offer it up because I have no expertise but the could use Bluetooth if their PC or laptop is capable.

Yes, they could do a bluetooth sync, and for similar reasons, I did not mention it. It can be complicated. But not impossible.

Thankyou very much for your replies guys, i just spent a while transfering all of them one by one onto the sim, but atleast they are safe!

One more quick question for you. I've looked into getting a external charger for the battery, here is a link to it below.

Blackberry ASY12738001 Mini External Battery Charger (ASY-12738-001) £12.94

Would that charge the battery for my standard big bulky 8800? It says it works on the 8800 Pearl and i was thinking perhaps the pearl has a different battery? A smaller one seen as it is considerably smaller. Or maybe it simply says Blackberry 8800 Pearl because it has the roller ball? I've never heard of an 8800 having pearl attached but thats possible.

Thanks again guys.
