Default Ringtone issues - 07-17-2008, 07:04 PM

When I download a ringtone to my 8830 and go to the media area, the ringtone is plenty loud. However, when I pick it as a ringtone, it is considerably lower than when I go to the media area.

Is there some way I can increase the volume so it is the same as in the ringtone area of media?

Does that make sense?

When I download and go to media ringtones, the volume is really loud but then when I set it to be a ringtone, go to advanced and choose it, the loudness is a lot lower when the phone rings.

Go to PROFILES, then ADVANCED.

Choose whichever profile you wish to modify. I just use NORMAL.

Highlight NORMAL, and hit the BB key and choose EDIT.

Scroll down to PHONE

You'll see sections for OUT OF HOLSTER and IN HOLSTER.

Adjust the volume of both to HIGH, or whatever you wish.

Save, and that's it.

Thanks for that info but I already have my profile set to Loud and volumes set to High. This problem seems to come in the area between the media ringtones and the profiles. When I downloaded the ringtone it was really extra loud in the media ringtone area (like it was gonna bust the speaker loud) but when I went to profiles and choose it as a ringtone there, it was a lot less loud (like I could barely hear it).

Just seems to me if it is loud when it is downloaded that it should be that way to the phone as a whole but on mine it is not.

I guess no one else has the answer to this either or understands what I am trying to explain since there were no other responses.

A know flaw/issue/problem/bug/irk (chose your poison) on the 8830. Some folks craft their own ring tone and/or use 3rd party software to increase the volume of an existing mp3. There are links to free LOUD ringtones for the 8830.

I select all of the above!

I have found that some of the included ringtones are louder than others. It was really a trial and error....I haven't tried my own customized or even downloaded rings except for one....the 24 CTU ring and that has been loud enough for my needs.

Can't say I noticed a difference in the media area vs the ringtone.
