Default Wierd new issue charging my 8830 - 07-18-2008, 06:42 PM

I noticed something weird happening recently. When I plug my 8830 into the wall charger and set it down on my desk, the BB will reboot about once in every four or five recharge sessions as soon as it (gently) hits the table. The miniUSB connector plug is still intact, but the cord feels very loose and will unplug with a very light pull. I get the same loose feeling with my sync cable.

Is the Recharge/reboot thing potentially linked, and could it have to do with the very loosey-goosey miniUSB port? Or could this be just a gigantic coincidence and there is another issue I should look at?

Sounds like a loosey-goosey miniusb port plug.

Or you BB just likes to not be charged and throws a tantrum!

Maybe I should put an addendum here... How much longer until I end up taking it in for service? *gulp*

I'd do it sooner as a preventive maintenance trip.

And now for the big question... How do I talk to a Big Red customer service rep in a way that they'll understand this is a design issue and not rough handling? I have a couple of very small dings on the phone but no scratches or rough spots. I don't want to be denied for "rough handling" when I baby this thing ridiculously IRL.
