If I buy an AT&T 8820 and I use it on the T-mobile network, will I be able to use wifi, GPS and UMA? Phonescoop.com says that the AT&T 8820 is capable of UMA if the carrier supports it, but I have heard that it is not capable of UMA. Can you guys please give me the correct answer as I am going to buy this soon. I need and want all three, GPS, wifi AND UMA.

UMA is on the Tmo 8820. The ATT version will give you WIFI/GPS but NO UMA. You will also need to unlock it. Use the link in my sig to unlock.

I know, I unlock it. Just seems weird because I am getting 50% saying yes I can use UMA and 50%, no I can't.

You will not get UMA. The device is not programmed for it on a firmware level. This firmware cannot be changed.

Yes, the T-Mobile version will have all three: Wi-Fi, GPS and UMA.

when you say the firmware isnt programmed to have it, does that not refer to the OS? if not, is there no way of reprogramming the firmware....

Cannot be done. Only a T-Mobile 8820 running on T-Mobile's network will enable & support UMA.

An AT&T 8820 on TMO's network or a TMO 8820 on AT&T's network will "NOT" support UMA. In both cases, you'll have WiFi (for data) and GPS but no UMA for WiFi calls.
