Talking OS: 8820 4.5.0.92 / 4.5.0.69 (MultiLanguage) - 09-10-2008, 11:04 PM

BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone [fr]

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.92 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.92
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.69
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.72
* File name: 8820M_PBr4.5.0_rel92_PL2.7.0.72_A4.5.0.69_Orange_F rance.exe
* File size: 75.95MB

Download link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...A5DFF913DF997A

Instructions for installing on ANY 8820 (regardless of carrier)

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the OS file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

FYI, there are other .69 available for download too (8100, 8800, and 8700). Too lazy to post, working on my paper.

Does anyone know if the 8820 has the tonal controls that the 8310 has? I miss the bass boost...

These small incremental upgrades usually contain nothing new. Usually they just include bug fixes.

beats me... maybe because RIM thinks that business users (the majority of users of the 88xx series) dont use the music player... its kinda sucks as thats all i use for my media... oh well... its a perk to have but not needed really...

Just seems odd. You'd think they'd be the same. Go figure.

OS seems to be working without any obvious issues. Profiles got blown out on the OS load, but I'll manage.
