So I put the 8330 newest 4.5.0.131 (188) on mine, huge memory leak. I'm thinking about going back to the .101 beta. Much better with memory. With this crap I'm doing battery pulls every few hours, starting with 10MB at boot. With NO BACKGROUND apps running. Crap crap crap crap crap crap crap RIM.

Uh this is 8830 thread. :D

If that is typo, try 4.5.0.177 because it rocks for me so far.

I am not terribly happy. I like the way the new OS looks, but memory is leaking like an old man (my colleagues) with prostate cancer. Also, a program that I use called InForm is not running the new apps that I have created.

What do people suspect causes the memory leak? Docs2Go?

Updated OS to 4.5 and now I seem to have lost my BlackBerry Messenging.
Any clue why or how to get it back ?

I don't know, but it's bad. I'm deleted Docs2Go as I barely use it. I will let you know in a day or two if the leaks are continuing.

I'm going from 8-9 MB free on boot to about 3-4 after one day of heavy use and down to 1-2 MB free after another day or two. I only have the base software plus GTalk and WSJ Mobile Reader installed. Heavy email, a handful of appointment reminders, a few calls, a couple dozen web pages.

Docs to Go allows to you make changes to Word documents from your BlackBerry device. The standard version is included with 4.5. It is not checked by default. You have to select to install it.

I believe I seen you say in another thread that you are missing BBM after upgrading as well. To get both of them installed (if you wish), connect your device to your PC, lauch Desktop Manager, Click App Loader, place a check next to each item you wish to install on your device and click next.

I'm not getting a big memory leak after upgrading. At least not as bad as others. I have Doc2Go loaded. I start out with about 15 mb free. After several days, I'm down to 10 or so. After clearing the cache and battery pull, I'm right back up to 15. There's obviously a memory leak, but it seems managable.

I did not make a typo, there is a documented way to load the newer 8330 Curve OS on the 8830, altho my memory leak is bad. I'll load the actual 8830 os and see what I get.

I go from 12 mb to 8.5 mb in about 4 hours, at which point I pull the battery. I have a request in to customer support at DataViz to see if there is any word on this. However, I may simply have to delete it even though I would prefer to keep it.

Now that my OS is 4.5.0.177
shouldn't my emails be more readable ?
Still getting alot of http etc. I thought the 4.5 would end having to go through all that crap.

Is there some setting I need to change for the emails to load the images ?

Miz,

Have you resent your service books since upgrading your OS?
How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ

Keep in mind, only new messages (after your service books have been resent) will be in HTML. All the messages currently on the device will be as they currently are.

Go to your browser, pull up the menu and go to options. Then Cache Operations. Then clear the history. Then do a battery pull with the blackberry on. After rebooting, go to Options then Status. You can see how much memory you have at that point next to File Free. You can check it often to see how much it falls.

Now that's a real memory leak. I've gone down about 1 mb since earlier today. I'll watch it more closely.

I am in the advanced options and in the host routing table
I scroled to the bottom and noticed the second to last is in bold letters does this have a meaning?

Sorry for all the stupid questions but I am new to this and learning more daily.

I have a suspicion that once you get under 13-15 mb after a reboot that the problem intensifies and the leak goes more quickly. Just a theory, but I am tempted to do some experiments. Of course those darn clients also expect me to do work for them.

Oh, but you don't know that yet. Survival of the fittest. Maybe with less memory, it can run faster and outwit all the other blackberries out there......

It might even be able to get to the female blackberries faster and penetrate their sexual defenses more effectively. BBs and the primordial soup model.

Nope - still leaking at about the same rate even with docs2go removed.

I think that you also need to select a menu item to download the images that are embedded within the email.

Which version of the WSJ Reader do you have? Version 1.1.9 appears a bit better.

Use DM and select the restore option -- I suspect that it will point you at the backups which will be dated. (I'm working from recall on this since I have not had that problem.)

Along with the memory leak, I have noticed that my battery is not lasting as long. The other night it was at 85% when I went to sleep and I had it in the case. When I woke up, it was down to 10%. That's just crazy!

Did you leave any applications running in the background? Alt + Escape (back) will show you all running apps. Leaving them running will have a drastic impact on battery life.
