Default OS: 8820 4.5.0.246/4.5.0.153 (Multi Language) - 06-14-2009, 01:46 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.246
Contains English, from Etisalat
This will load on any carrier's 8820 model

Software For BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.246 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.246
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.153
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
* File name: 8820M_PBr4.5.0_rel246_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.153_Etisa lat.exe
* File size: 92.4MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download Link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...4A920FC53D9564

Instructions for installing on ANY 8820 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Looks and feels great - although not much different from previous versions. Thanks.

Hi,

Can any of the BB experts can help with what is remarkable about the updated software. RIM should provide a summary of changes in the new versions. I downloaded this version to my utter disappointment that nothing new is visible - even performance. Absolute waste of time in downloading - not worth.

Be careful with this update, I heard in other forums that it is geared toward the Gulf area with spyware built in the OS to be activated remotely.

Fazluke - it you read the information about it, the carrier pushes the questionable software to devices that are on its network, and it is not part of the handheld operating system.
