Default OS: 8800 4.5.0.254/4.5.0.161 (EastAsia & English) - 06-25-2009, 01:33 AM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.254 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.254
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.161
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
* File name: 8800EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel254_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.16 1_Hutchison.exe
* File size: 86.91MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download Here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...2BAA6EBC8B872D

This download is from Hutchison but will work on ANY carrier's 8800 model BB. (Not 8820 or 8830)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Works very well! Changes seem to be related to memory usage/leaks.
Ended up with an additional 4Mb free.

I have 4.5.153/2.7.0.105

Is this a different version or not? Should I even bother upgrading?

I'm now wary about upgrading, as I too have a Bluetooth issue since upgrading to 4.5.0.124, which was the latest offered by my carrier's updating link from Blackberry.com. When folks say "will work on ANY carrier's 8800 model BB", does this apply to parts of the world other than the US ? Or has this not been proved ?

Hey, I was just wondering if you'd be able to help me as well. I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100. Should I download the same thing?

You're looking at the WRONG thread. This thread is for the 88XX series Blackberry.

For your 8100 Pearl, refer to this thread:
