Default ATT 8820 Device Error/Might be dying? - 09-04-2009, 09:17 AM

EDITED: Error happens every time I pull the battery.

"You've switched to a new device. Do you want to update your contacts about it? Otherwise your contact list will be erased." (choose yes/no)

Is this enough info for you guys? Does anyone know what it is or how to fix it? My SIM card is a Cingular vintage - Should I just try for a new SIM and hope for the best?

Thx for any help, I'lll try to record the error next time it happens.

EDIT: There is also what looks like a lock that is "unlocked" above the ATT & WiFi connection icon, between the alarm and the unread message counter.

ATT 8820, PIN 245D4A00, Vendor ID 102, Platform 2.7.0.105, App Version: 4.5.0.153 (246)

Got a new SIM card today, thought it was fixed, now it's happening every time the phone is plugged into DM or power cycles.

Is there any way to get the phone to not do this? Could it have anything to do with my OS upgrades? Should I go back to the standard ATT OS and theme?
