Default How to add multiple entries in address book - 10-27-2009, 01:43 PM

I have had my 8830WE for about 2 years and finally am asking here. How do I add a name to a phone number in the address book without having the phone dial the numbers that go with the name?
For example, I have people that have seveal family members that have their own cell phone. Or another example is someone with an extension number.

Maybe I am not sure what you are asking. But, it seems that there are 2 options:
1. Do not use the voice activated dial and choose which number to dial when you call.
2. Look at what is in the address entry and dial it manually...

If you want the same button to do different things as you wish, I do not think it is possible. You need to make a valid command to let the phone know what you want to do with a serial of button push. In this case, it would be look up in the address book and dial it manually I suppose? Maybe I am not understanding your question though....

In the address book, under one family name, Like Smith, there may be 3 people that have phone numbers. I currently have listed their numbers like this:
123-455-1234 - Bob
123-455-1133 - Mary
123-455-3344 - Joe
When I dial Bob, the phone dials 123-455-1234-939 (or whatever numbers correspond to the letters, B-o-b), When that happens, I get the phone company error message that says I have dialed a bad number.
What I am looking for is a way to enter the 3 names without the phone dialing the numbers associated with the acutal person's name. Hope that clears up my question. Btw, I have tried hightlighting only the phone number, but the phone dials the number plus the numbers associated witht the name.

Yeh, it wont do that.
You have to put them in as different contacts.
Or put Bob in the work field, mary in home field and joe in mobile field.

Just as Midnightdraven said, it will not do that. It will dial exactly what you put in. But, if they have the same last name, you can put their full name in the address book and then sort by last name, so they will be next to each other and grouping that way.

When you dial, you know who you are dialing and it will dial the correct number. Hope this helps.
