Does this mean that Cingular is likely to get the 8820 (we think this is the Crimson?) and the 8800/Indigo first?

Seeing as there have been plenty of 8800 photos creeping around on the net and none of this apparent 8820 I would assume that the 8820 is a little way off launch yet so who knows.

The 8800 though appears close to launch given the amount of pics of it around, but like the Pearl I think RIM wants to get it out there and sees exclusivity as a bit of a hampering in terms of bringing devices to market. I would assume they'll launch it on several networks in several territories at roughly the same time for maximum impact.

The 8820 references in BG's logs must be one of two things:

1. He's either photoshopping his logs - I'm not saying his is at all.

2. It's a PR stunt by RIM. Anyone with an 8820 (which at this stage would be RIM only) knows if they access BG's site it'll get picked up, and they also know from his reputation that he won't mind telling the world about it.

I suspect the later, which is a bit crap of RIM really. If they want us all to know about it, then tell us!!!

I tend to agree. The other possiblity is that it's insanely easy to change your USER_AGENT (this is the field that BG is referring to) could be someone having a laugh @ BG's expense

The 8820 is not the camera version of the 8800. In fact, the 8820 is basically a 8800 with wifi. This obviously means the 8800 will not have wifi.

The 8800/8820 is more of a 8700 update. There will be another slimmer QWERTY device with camera that will effectively be a QWERTY version of the Pearl.

This seems the most likely scenario.

All of you are wrong. The 8800 will have wifi and UWB, while the 8820 Will have CDMA, GSM/EDGE, UWB, Satellite radio, an AM/FM tuner, and will be HDTV transmission-capable, though you will have to buy an adopter. In exchange for all of this we will, sadly, have to give up cellular service, but it will be worth it.

Now the 8900 series is a real improvement in that it will come in a pill form that may be internally ingested to provide 8-10 months of hands-free communication. What you may not know is that your stomach cavity provides an excellent echo-chamber to resonate your voice commands into executables. Most of us will, naturally, require several weeks of voice training so that we may learn to speak from our diaphram, but I think we can all agree this is a worthwhile trade-off. Also, Veringular will provide voice-training for free with only a 9-year lockup.

Personally, I would advice agianst 'upgrading' to one of those Taiwanese extended batteries for the 89 series...

Its a very credible source is all I will say. Of course we will know if I am right when the device is released. I am prepared to eat humble pie if I am wrong.

I thought that the wifi was dropped because of it being unreliable.

Unlocked 8100c w/ 1 gb microSD, BSE total body skin, and rubberized case or silicone skin.

Again, I feel like this has been addressed several times---to no avail! However, would someone please tell me which carrier will be offering the Blackberry 8800????? I know it will only be on a GSM carrier which is either T-Mobile or Cingular. Currently, I'm a T-Mobile customer and have been thinking about changing carriers because of the lack of coverage in the NYC Financial District. Someone with close sources.....do tell!!!!!!!
