Default Amazon has 8800 for $125 (with contract) - 02-20-2007, 08:14 PM

Just as the title says. The price is right for those that are willing to wait an extra couple of days. Just look under the BB's on the Cingular section of their website. Enjoy...

Thanks for that, I ordered mine from them.

I was going to do the upgrade through Cingular for $349 thinking that if Amazon offered it it would only be for new plans, but the $125 is for plan renewals also.

Estimated shipping is 1-2 weeks.

I got this email 1 min after the order confirmation email:

Greetings from Amazon.com.

Congratulations, Cingular Wireless has notified us that you are eligible to upgrade to a new phone with a contract extension through Amazon.com.

We are proceeding with your order and you will receive a ship-confirmation e-mail once your order has shipped.

When is one technically "eligible" for an upgrade?

Hmmmm - answered my own question:

If you click "AM I ELIGIBLE?"

Am I Eligible To Upgrade?

To qualify for a phone upgrade and contract extension:
You must be month-to-month in your existing contract with this
carrier, or you must be at least 10 months into your 12-month contract
or 22 months into your 24-month contract.
Your account must be in good financial standing and without late fees.
You agree to extend your contract 24 months from the end of your
existing contract.
You are not attempting to upgrade an entire, or any portion of, a family plan.
You are not a former AT&T TDMA subscriber now on Cingular's network.
Note: Eligibility results may vary based on a number of conditions,
such as usage history, payment record, and previous phone replacement.

The 8800 is not out for TMo. You can buy a cingular model and unlock it for use on TMo.

Think the $50 rebate will work with this also? It seems to be for 2 year contracts and this would be a 2 year extension. The only restriction I see is that it can't be used for an 8800 already discounted to $0.

A $75 8800 would be even better =)

This is a good deal. When should this be expected to arrive?

Amazon's basic shipping is 3-7 days, but it is usually on the lower end. I have never waited long for anything from Amazon. I hope this is what you are inquiring about.

Has anyone received this yet? I'd much rather spend 125 then 350 on the 8800. Is it going to be a brand new 8800 with all the same stuff exactly like you would buy from cingular?

Cingular/8700c
-Unlimited Data Plan-which does come w/ wap.cingular access point included heh
Any Questions, feel free to PIN!

I just called Amazon. They said they don't have it in stock right now, that's why it says "ships in 1-2 weeks", so they are waiting for the stock? Anyone else have a vendor less than Cingular.com, which is $300 with rebate, who can confirm that they have the unit in stock?

For those who are not eligible for an upgrade:

I was not eligible. I tried 3 times to get the pearl for free from Amazon. I was bumming. So I called Cingular and told them my story. My phone does not work well and I was [important -->] very dissapointed with the phone. I also stated that I wanted a PDA (my work has up to this point provided me with Blackberries) and wanted to make sure I got all the email and bells and whistles including unlimited data plan (they could see that I had been trying to sign up for this plan in the failed Amazon requests).

So, either they (a) did not want to loose my business (b) saw a $40 jump per month with the data plan or (c) just wear their hearts on their corporate sleeves, they were very happy to put me up for renewal immediately. I was not up for 4 months otherwise.

I was extremely EXTREMELY happy with their customer service. The people I spoke with were knowledgable, prompt, and seemingly on my side throughout the whole thing.

Thumbs up to Cingular.

Now go get your renewal authorizations! [Cingular 1-800-331-0500]

Nice work.

Just to let you guys know, I was just messing aroudn with my account on cingular.com and noticed the link at the bottom that says "Upgrade Phone", so i clicked it, and was amazed to find that I was eligible for an upgrade, and could then buy a phone at the SIGN UP price, as long as I extend my contract for two years.

Note that I have more than 10 months left on my two year contract. I called the customer rep to add my blackberry plan back on, and she said that it sometimes depended on people's credit history (?).

Have no idea - but I suggest you try it in your account and see what happens.

I just see:
Shipping estimate: February 28, 2007 - March 7, 2007
Delivery estimate: March 2, 2007 - March 12, 2007

I went with the free standard shipping. For just $125 and possibly even $75 with rebate, I'm not in any rush =)
