Default What car mount do you recommend? - 02-22-2007, 11:33 AM

Just got my 8800 today! Woo-hoo! Can't wait to try out the gps. I had a great portable car mount for my garmin and wish I could find a similar 'bean bag' dash mount. What do you recommend for a car mount? Cheers!

Default ProClips? - 02-22-2007, 11:52 AM

ProClipsUSA says they'll have a model out in April, hopefully sooner. I loved there set-up for my 8700, so I'll wait.

I have been using the fuzzy one that I used for 8700. I works for now. Anyone by chance have a ProClip mount for a Moto Q and a BB8800? They are very, very close in size, and just might work.

I just use one of those windshield mounted clipboard notepad holders. Under the clip I placed one of those cell mate sticky things and instant BB holder. Total cost = $7.

I got one for like 30 bucks from eBay. It wasn't proclips. It works very well except shakes a bit when going over bumpy roads.

ProClip Mounting System *-*Choose Your Country - the best there is.

No 8800 mount yet, though.

But ProClips does not sem to offer suction cup. I travel a lot and get into a different car all the time. A model specific mount would not do.

Before I got my 8800, I would have agreed with all of the favorable answers endorsing ProclipUSA as they make an excellent product and one that served me well with my PDA with virtually no intrusion into my car (clipped right on the vent and stayed secure while being easy to remove when I needed to take it to another car), BUT because I intend to use the navi of the 8800 fairly heavily, I thought it important to have a built-in power source. Enter the Bury Technologies Comfort Cradle. When coupled (read: gerry-rigged) with the vent mount from my ProClipUSA PDA holder, it fits nice and securely precisely where my PDA had been. I had the power source (which was originally a cigarette lighter adapter) run back through the vent and hardwired to the car (so you can't see it at all), and voila!, a very nice, unobtrusive, and secue car mount for the 8800.

The only drawback was the price.

Good luck!
