Default Gmail 1.10 errors - 03-12-2007, 03:29 PM

Hi all,

In addition to my other problem, I'm experiencing some lock-ups in the Gmail 1.10 application. When I write an email, it will only let me type so much before the application interface completely stops responding, and eventually quits out with this message:

"Uncaught exception: Application gm_8700_v4_0_L1(114) is not responding; process terminated."

The device is very sluggish during this time but will let me switch between applications (albeit at a snail's pace!)

The gmail website detects my device as an 8700, but I don't think they have an 8800 version available yet.

Anyone else have experiences with this?

Yes, I am experiencing the same issue. I was hoping someone would have a fix. It is very annoying.

For two days now when I open gmail, I get the follwoing error: "Network Unavailable: This program requires a working data connection. Please check your signal strength."

I have full signal and am able to send/receive emails just fine through my wrk email!? I wish someone could help me out with this as well.

I couldn't even get the Gmail app to load with an OTA download. It seems they haven't released a working version for the 8800 yet. I'm not sure why. It could have to do with the OS version on the 8800 compared to the 8700, but I didn't think they were all that different.

If you're using the BlackBerry 8800, please visit Gmail
and download the application again. We've made some changes that may
have resolved this issue. Please make sure you remove that application
that is already on your device before installing the new application.

I re-downloaded the latest Gmail earlier on 3/12/07 when I posted the issue, and it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue yet. Will download again today and see what happens.

Stinsonddog - thanks for the help. Do you have the link to this posting?

Thanks!

If you have Cingular as your provider, this may solve your problem...

Unhappy GMAIL 1.10 Errors - 06-03-2007, 11:12 AM

gmail crashes my blackberry 8800 - Gmail for mobile | Google Groups

Google Groups thread about same issue.

I have experienced the same problem with the GMAIL app hanging on my 8700c with both 4.1 and 4.2 software and Gmail v1.10 and earlier. Now (with v4.2 OS) at least it throws the "Uncaught Exception" error, where as on 4.1 OS it would do a hard reboot of the handheld with no warning. I wish Google would resolve this issue.

I am on the "new at&t" network, a co worker has the exact same problem on her 8700g on the T-Mobile network.
