So far, I've been pretty impressed with the 8800's Voice Recognition feature. That said, I have a contact list of **maybe** 150 people.

Our company has large number of users on it's BES, some of which have over a thousand contacts pulled down from their Exchange contact list.

For those users, the Voice Recognition feature doesn't seem to do the trick. Say they've got a John Gibbons and a John Gibson in their contact list. Even when speaking....very....slowly....it still comes back either with the wrong name or asking them to whittle the potentials down.

Anyone have any recommendations on what I can tell my users? Speak more slowly? Change some of your Voice Recognition sensitivities? Are there plug-ins for the software that flags certain contacts as "ignorable contacts"? (say you've got a contact for someone you rarely need to speak to, but need to keep in your list anyway)

Also, are there **better** products out there? And will they work over a Bluetooth headset?

This isn't an ideal solution but they could move contacts that don't need to be on the BB to a separate contacts folder...

Speaking more slowly is not the answer. Speaking normally works best for me. Too many contacts will cause a problem. I am able to, with ease, voice dial the top 30-40 contacts I need. I do admit that I had to make a few changes in the phone book but it works very well for me.

I have about 700 contacts and although I've used better voice dial systems (MS Voice Command is excellent on the WM phones), the one on the BB works most of the time. Sometimes I'll say a name and it would give me a number "did you say 123-1234" or something. I have the most problems using it with a lot of background noise like on the street.

MS Voice Command was also able to know Bob is short for Robert and I didn't have to use the person's title "Mr." as I do with the BB since I have that in my phonebook.

I also have 500 contacts, so Voice Dial does not work, it is possible to use the SIM Phone Book, and to store there ONLY the contacts I want to call via Voice Dial ?, I tried but the Voice Dial application always goes to the default Phone Book, any idea ?, thanks

brosenz make sure you say the name exactly as it appears in your phonebook. In my case I'd have to say "Call Smith Mister Robert T on mobile". It isn't natural enough that I don't screw it up sometimes. With MS Voice Command, as I recall, I could just say "Call Bob Smith on mobile" and it would pick it up. Now I have to remember that it isn't picking up the name because Jack is John, Bob is Robert, etc. in the phonebook.

Still it is better than nothing.
