Default What applications SHOULD I get 8800 - 03-19-2007, 08:51 AM

Just got my blackberry 8800

Am curious what applications people think make the blackberry experience much better? Sort of must haves.

Here's what's on mine:

BBToday
NewsClip
BB411
BBWeather
Opera Mini
Google Maps
BBMaps

Still looking for a good app for streaming stock quotes and sports scores (that doesn't cost too much $$$/mth)

**Note: BBLight did not work on my 8800. I really wish I could put that on this list.

Telenav
Google Maps
Infospace FindIt has been pretty handy too while traveling...

It all depends on your needs and preferences.

I'm a big fan of Pocket Express. The core channels (weather, news, sports) are free, but a monthly charge is for all the channels.

OTA: Pocket Express Delivers News, Weather, Sports, Stocks, 411 Lookups, Maps and Directions to Smartphones

Other favorites mentioned already:

- Newsclip
- Find It!
- Google Maps
- Opera Mini

I would also like a free/low cost stock program. I would really like a fantasy sports app more though.

Would this be something you're looking for? Can't find anything that says it costs: Widgets and Tools | Market Filters

Also consider the Aftermarket Software Forum on this site. There are a LOT of options there.

Anybody aware of a quicken for BB or a means to add expenses to a file importable into quicken?

I buy SpellCheck and Repligo. Repligo has been very good at storing attachments and then being able to send them to someone else.

I take it BB411 is name and phone lookup function, like switchboard?

How does the map thing work?

Ascendo DataVault

Awesome secure password management and ID record storage software. Both the desktop and BlackBerry interface are fantastic and their tech support is first-rate.

Regarding Beyond411, when one selects the Default Autoconnection, does that mean it will use the blackberry browser on the BES server when doing a search if you have an Enterprise Server (i.e. MDS service on the BES)?
